Problems with paddle tennis reservations

Perhaps one of the main problems with common areas in a Community of Owners, the control of reservations made for these facilities usually brings the neighbors headaches.

We have encountered problems of all kinds, from using a piece of paper to reserve that gets wet when it rains, to someone erasing previous reservations to reserve in their name... yes, these are things that happen in the Communities of Neighbors and we see them many times on a recurring basis. And we are talking about simple reservations for use, because if we also add that the reservation entails some kind of payment then the situation becomes even more complicated.

Well, if controlling this type of situation in a Community inevitably leads to problems, in the particular case of paddle tennis court reservations it is an even more problematic step. Why? Well, because padel courts are usually booked many times during the same day, and usually everyone wants to book the same time slots, and we also like to play padel more than once a week if possible. As a result, friction begins to arise between neighbours, such as "someone has booked more times than allowed", "someone has booked but is not at the court", and "someone has booked both courts on the same day when that is not fair".

The Community's padel booking app

We got down to work on all these problems that we had already discovered with our previous app Fincapp. Now with Onzane, a much more advanced booking app, it is possible to book your Community's paddle tennis court in three taps from your mobile phone, avoiding all those problems we mentioned before.

And since a picture is worth a thousand words, here is a video of how we make a reservation for a paddle tennis court with our app:

Booking and paying for the paddle tennis court

We all know that where money is involved, everything must be well-procedured if we want to avoid problems in the future. And of course, there are those who have to deal with cash payments, others with payments by making a transfer beforehand (without knowing if there is someone who is doing a similar process for the same time slot at the same time) and even others who have to buy some tokens at the Community bar to be able to turn on the paddle tennis court light later.

Nowadays, technology obviously allows us to avoid all these types of problems and associated costs. With Onzane you can set a price for use of the court or a deposit, or both, so that whoever wants to reserve the paddle tennis court pays using the same app at the same time as making the reservation. And the money from all these reservations goes directly to the Community's bank account, without anyone in the middle and without having to manage cash that in the end someone will have to take to the bank.

In Onzane there is the concept of Wallet that the neighbors can recharge using their debit or credit card, or by charging the next Community fee. The balance of this wallet, once recharged, can be used for anything that is required in the Community, such as to pay for the reservation of the paddle tennis court.

And this wallet is common for the property, so you can do things like one of the parents recharge it and the children can reserve the court with that balance. A way to finance the children, yes, but who doesn't do it with pleasure? Hey, at least I prefer them to play paddle tennis than to spend it on other things.

Booking the paddle tennis court and controlling access

Okay, all this is great. I have booked and paid for the paddle tennis court with the app, but when it comes time to use it, I would not like the court to be occupied, or to have been used irregularly before and to have been left unusable. It is about controlling who has access to the paddle tennis court, because we want to ensure that it is always in the best possible condition and that people who shouldn't have access to it don't.

You can also control access to the paddle tennis court from the Onzane app itself. We will briefly tell you the steps to follow:

  • Make your reservation: Choose the day and time slot that best suits you, and make your reservation. If there is a fee, you can pay for it at the same time.
  • Arrive at the court: A few minutes before the start time of your reservation, you must arrive at the paddle tennis court and request access to it.
  • Open the court: To do this, use the Onzane app and you will see that the one that is going to start now appears among your reservations, and that you will also see an option that says "Open". Depending on the system that has been configured on the court, the app will generate a dynamic QR code, or connect via Bluetooth to the access, or open it remotely over the Internet. Of course, only you who have previously made the reservation will be able to open that door.
  • Bonus track: And if configured this way, Onzane can make sure that in addition to opening the door, the court lights turn on (if required or if you have paid for it). As you read, you can make it so that when you open the door from the app the lights on the paddle tennis court also turn on automatically.
  • Another bonus track: and finally, if you also want it that way, Onzane can make it not only open and turn on the lights, but also turn them off automatically when the reservation time is up. Mind you, this is even better because you can't imagine how many times they are left on at night. You should know that you can also define courtesy minutes to allow the lights to turn on and off a few minutes before starting the reservation and after finishing it.

The app is not only for paddle tennis reservations

You already know that with Onzane you can make and pay for the paddle tennis court reservation, and even allow access to it only for those who have previously reserved it. But Onzane does many more things for your Community and everything is integrated into the same app that allows you to communicate with the neighbors and the property management, but also, for example, to report an incident or check the financial status of my property in the Community.

And the best of all is not what has been said so far. The best of all is that you can try it for free for a month and see if it fits in your Community. Is there an easier way to get rid of all these problems when booking a paddle tennis court?
